Preserving and sharing the Laboratory’s heritage
Overview of our activities and services
We welcome EMBL staff, alumni, and others to share their materials and documents with the EMBL Archive.
We process, catalog, and preserve both analog and digital archives, making descriptions and materials accessible through our EMBL Archive Catalogue, and we follow physical and digital preservation activities.
Our collections are accessible either in person in our reading room or online. Please note that there are specific terms and conditions for access and use.
We support the administrative, institutional, research, and business operations of EMBL across all sites regarding the management, use, and disposition of EMBL’s records.
We are conducting oral history interviews with former and current EMBL staff, as well as people closely associated with the laboratory, to document and preserve their personal experiences.
We engage in outreach activities to raise awareness of our archives and records management mission among EMBL staff and the public. Additionally, we actively participate in professional networks and activities to promote local and global cooperation in the field of scientific archives.
We are responsible for archiving laboratory notebooks (LNs). Learn more about LNs archiving context and process in Lab books archiving intranet page (internal access only).
