EMBL Archive

Preserving and sharing the Laboratory’s heritage

Who We Are

The EMBL Archive and Records Management (ARM) is part of the EMBL Office for Scientific Information Management (OSIM), alongside the Szilárd Library and EMBL Open Science Support.

We closely collaborate with both internal and external advisory committees to ensure that our work remains aligned with the evolving needs of EMBL and adheres to international best practices. Discover our team and committees.

Our advisory committees

The EMBL Archive is supported both internally and externally by three committees that provide valuable feedback on how its work and mission reflect current EMBL needs, as well as the expectations and desires of EMBL staff, alumni, and other stakeholders. The three committees are:

  1. Archive and Records Management (ARM) User Group: This user group consists of key internal stakeholders and meets every three months to assist and direct projects, as well as daily archives and records management operations.
  1. OSIM Strategic Advisory Board (SAB): This advisory board is composed of both internal and external stakeholders. It meets annually to provide strategic direction to OSIM. The archives and records management segment of the SAB is represented by Jenny Shaw, the Head of Collections at the Wellcome Trust. Jenny Shaw has been the main advisor to EMBL in establishing its archive and records management services since 2013.
  2. EMBL Alumni Archive Working Group: This working group is composed of the following EMBL alumni who helped establish the EMBL Archive: Giulio Superti-Furga, Maria dM Vivanco, Halldor Stefansson, Freddy Frischknecht, Mary Holmes and Mark Green. They provide feedback on the general work of the EMBL Archive and address the needs of the EMBL alumni community, key contributors and users of the EMBL Archive.
