SciLifeLab
SciLifeLab is a national resource of unique technologies and expertise available to life scientists, closely intertwined with our community of researchers in areas such as biomedicine, ecology and evolution. We bring scientists together across traditional boundaries and foster collaborations with industry, health care, public research organisations and international partners.
As a partner in this project, SciLifeLab intends to cooperate with the EMBL towards training of the Fellows.
SciLifeLab can host several Fellows per year, at either of the 40+ infrastructure units throughout Sweden in the period 2023-2024 through secondments and introduce them to the ways of working, instrumentation and procedures at SciLifeLab. Duration of secondments will be between 2 and 6 months and will be arranged in communication with the Fellow. Fellows who will do secondments at SciLifeLab will come from the field related or complementary to the field of work of SciLifeLab. At SciLifeLab Fellows will have a possibility to learn many different techniques for example; Data management, Statistics, Single-Particle Cryo-EM, Super-resolution imaging, Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscopy (FIB-SEM), CRISPR functional genomics, Human and microbial NGS, single-cell analysis, high-resolution mass spectrometry(MS), biomarkers, antibody therapeutics.
The Fellows will also have a chance to get acquainted with the operation of technology in one of the units on the SciLifeLab ten platforms; Bioinformatics, Genomics, Clinical Genomics, Clinical Proteomics and Immunology, Metabolomics, Spatial Biology, Cellular and Molecular Imaging, Integrated Structural Biology, Chemical Biology and Genome Engineering and Drug Discovery and Development.
Most of SciLifeLab technologies are agnostic to applications, meaning they can be used to address questions in a range of life science disciplines, e.g. precision medicine, ecosystem surveillance and evolutionary biology.

SciLifeLab. will dedicate supervision capacity for each fellow on secondments. During secondments, Fellows can stay employed by EMBL. SciLifeLab intends also to host mini-secondments in a duration of up to two weeks, during which Fellows will shadow operations at SciLifeLab.
