Syngenta is a business that helps humanity face its toughest challenge: how to feed a rising population, sustainably. Through world class science and innovative crop solutions, our 28,000 people in over 90 countries are working to transform how crops are grown to enable millions of growers to make better use of available resources
Crop protection is a core component of the Syngenta business, with significant product portfolios covering the major agricultural sectors. R&D is imperative to providing new solutions for our customers and Syngenta employs 5000 R&D scientists globally. Jealott’s Hill International Research Centre in Berkshire is Syngenta’s largest R&D site, employing over 800 people who are actively supporting crop protection lead discovery (including fungicide), optimisation, development and registration. Stein (Switzerland) is sister site to Jealott’s Hill employing approximately 350 employees specializing in the areas of Chemistry, Biology, Seed Care and Lawn & Garden Research.
We see that training of scientists and engineers to become future leaders in technology development and operation of advanced facilities in academia and industry is of great value. Particularly as the program will cover areas of technologies that are part of EMBL expertise and are of high interest to Syngenta e.g. imaging, structural analysis, genomics, metabolomics, (bio)chemical engineering etc.
As a partner in this project, Syngenta intends to cooperate with the EMBL towards training of the Fellows. Subject to contract Syngenta will:
