EMBL Courses and Conferences are a major European platform for sharing and expanding research, knowledge and contacts through face-to-face and virtual interaction
The EMBL Course and Conference Office supports EMBL and external scientists in the organisation of conferences, workshops, practical courses, and key EMBL events.
The annual programme of onsite courses and conferences is centred on EMBL’s dedicated Advanced Training Centre in Heidelberg but extends to events at the EMBL’s other sites and online.
EMBL’s courses and conferences are advanced, innovative, and open. Equality, diversity, and inclusivity are central to our training values at EMBL, as outlined in our inclusivity criteria for courses and conferences.
As part of EMBL’s external training unit, the CCO exists to achieve EMBL’s mission to train scientists, students and visitors at all levels. The team’s service has created a framework where scientists can concentrate on science and critical discussion and its Course and Conference Programme facilitates networking opportunities between scientists at all stages of their careers.

The EMBL Course and Conference Office facilitates the strengthening of relationships between international scientists in cutting edge life science research across a large range of disciplines by handling the operational aspects of top-class training events in a non-profit environment.
The ideal venue in which to hold scientific conferences or practical courses in the heart of Europe.
As a non-profit organisation, EMBL’s exhibition prices reflect the real cost of your participation and are not tailored to make a profit. All the money acquired through sponsorship is used to cover event-related costs and helps us keep the registration fees as low as possible.
