Recent years have seen a technological revolution in tools for studying dynamic gene regulation in cells and tissues – from chromatin and epigenomic analysis, through single-cell transcriptomics to the latest developments in 3D/4D imaging and sophisticated new computational modelling. Due to its extensive history, the developing vertebrate limb remains one of the ideal model systems to take advantage of this technological revolution. More is understood about the development of this organ than any other vertebrate organ, and yet a true integrated understanding still eludes us.
In the face of this technical revolution, the principle goal of this meeting is to bring together scientists representing the diversity of new technological approaches being used in this field. Key technological themes will be:
