EMBL Course
This beginner level course provides a basic training in generic statistical bioinformatics data analysis using R and Bioconductor. The course topics include an introduction to Bioconductor, exploration of data using appropriate graphics, basics on statistical testing as well as regression and principal component analysis. A particular focus will be on handling and exploring new generic data sets rather than specialized data.
The course will be a mix of lectures and hands-on training. Practicals will consist of computer exercises that will enable the participants to apply statistical methods to the analysis of data under the guidance of the lecturers and teaching assistants.
The course is aimed at PhD students, PostDocs and Staff scientists with mid-level experience in R (knowledge of handling of data structures like matrices, data.frames, lists, vectors, numerics, factors and commands like apply, lapply, sapply) are a must. Experience with basic plotting and writing functions is an advantage.
