EMBL Courses and Conferences are a major European platform for sharing and expanding research, knowledge and contacts through face-to-face and virtual interaction

Become an event reporter

In an effort to share our unique events with scientists who cannot attend due to financial constraints, EMBL is offering free places to conference reporters who will post to social media from the conference and write a report summarising the meeting. This opportunity is being offered for all conferences and symposia taking place at EMBL Heidelberg, Germany, and virtually.

What’s in it for me?

Come and take part in one on-site or virtual EMBL Conference, EMBO Workshop, or EMBO | EMBL Symposium of your choosing for free. Registration fees are waived for event reporters. For on-site events, you will still need to cover your travel and accommodation.

What will I have to do?

  • Document the event on social media channels such as X, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and/or a personal blog
  • Write a short report on the conference and submit to marketing@embl.de.

How can I apply?

To apply, please send a motivation letter including your scientific background and social media handles to marketing@embl.de and add which event you’re interested in joining as an event reporter. All applications will be evaluated after the on-site registration deadline of the event in question. Late applications will be considered only in case no event reporter has been selected yet and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
