Network Analysis

About Network Analysis

The Data Science Centre offers expertise and guidance in the field of biological network integration and analysis, building on knowledge that was previously part of the Centre for Biomolecular Network Analysis (CBNA). The aim is to support experimentalists and computational biologists in understanding and leveraging biological networks for their scientific studies.

Network analysis is a computational approach that uses graph theory to study the intricate web of interactions among biological molecules. These networks reveal how components within a system are connected and perform complex biological functions. By modelling these interactions, network analysis helps uncover relationships and dependencies that are not evident from studying individual molecules in isolation.

How can Network Analysis help your research?

For researchers, network analysis provides a robust toolkit to:

  • Explore the topological structure and functional organization of molecular networks.
  • Integrate and contextualize experimental data within broader biological systems.
  • Discover novel connections and pathways that drive cellular processes.
  • Generate testable hypotheses and gain insights into complex biological questions, and system-wide biological behaviors.

This approach is especially valuable in high-throughput studies, where large-scale datasets require sophisticated tools to extract meaningful patterns and insights.
