Access to infrastructures

Instruct-ERIC Access

Instruct-ERIC is a pan-European research infrastructure in structural biology, making high-end technologies and methods available to all European researchers.

Structural Biology is one of the key frameworks on which molecular and cellular functions are interpreted. The main experimental technologies are complementary, and increasingly link detailed atomic structure with cellular context.

Structural Biology is currently in the middle of a revolution enabled by significant advances in the tools (direct electron detectors in EM, advances in synchrotron sources and detectors, XFELs, ultra-high field NMR, super-resolution cryo-light miscroscopy).

Researchers from Instruct member countries can request access to the EMBL Hamburg beamlines via Instruct-ERIC. Once the proposal has been approved, please submit a beamline application proposal through the EMBL portal https://smis.embl-hamburg.de . There, you can select that the proposal is approved by Instruct and upload the body of the Instruct proposal. If needed, please contact the user office for further information.

Instruct-ERIC contribution has two components: 1) Access and 2) Travel, Accommodation (T&A) and Shipping. For more information on what Instruct-ERIC pays for, consult Funding for Access. For remote access, these funds can be used towards sample shipment costs.
