The Library was opened on the 20th November 1979 and it is named after the Hungarian-American scientist Leo Szilárd, who in part initiated the idea of EMBL.
In May, we would like to introduce new books that focus on topics like Tech Mining, developmental biology of invertebrates, cellular ageing or mitochondrial research. We also recommend new introductory books on genetics and microbiology.
In April we present innovative books on SRS microscopy and AI applications in pharmaceutics, newly published handbook on lipid membranes, latest edition of Lewin's genes and Chikungunya virus of CTMI series, new interpretation of humanity’s path to control over infectious disease, and more.
New March arrivals bring scientific topics about cell biology, histology, genetics and development, answer questions about climate change, our immune system, ethical decisions on the environment, vaccination, or offer an understanding of surface science.
With those words reflecting the scientific state of mind, we introduce the EMBL Szilárd library holdings in honor of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11.2.2022.
Among February arrivals, topics include how to drive changes for Open Science, new insights on evolution of senescence, cure development for Alzheimer's, and mesenchymal cell populations in the bone marrow, newest edition of Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry, and more.
December book display brings study of the data misuse in modern statistics, new editions of 3D Imaging and Freshney's Culture of Cells, views on mass extinctions in light of Anthropocene, stories behind the taxonomic nomenclature, biography of Mileva Marić-Einstein, and more.
