EMBL Insight Lecture “Genomics and Big Data: Transforming our Understanding of the Processes of Life”

by Professor Ewan Birney – 2 December 2016

Have you ever wondered how big data is changing our lives? Find out and register now to attend the next EMBL Insight Lecture on 2 December 2016 virtually over the web.

The EMBL Insight Lecture is presented each year by a senior EMBL scientist and aims at 16+ students. The upcoming seminar entitled “Genomics and Big Data: Transforming our Understanding of the Processes of Life” will be given by Professor Ewan Birney, who is Director of the EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute. In the EMBL Insight Lecture, Ewan Birney will explore the transformative power of genomics and big data for the future of medicine and healthcare. Professor Birney’s specialist research area is genetic variation and algorithms. Over the past twenty years he has played an important role in the genomics, initially as part of the team that helped sequence the first human genome and subsequently in the relatively new field of bioinformatics, where computer and life sciences meet.

We would like to invite you and your students to attend the live streaming of this event. If you are interested in attending, please register via the “Registration” tab below.
