Formerly known as European Learning Laboratory for the Life Sciences
Our inspiring educational experiences share the scientific discoveries of EMBL with young learners aged 10-19 years and teachers in Europe and beyond. We belong to EMBL’s Science Education and Public Engagement office.
In the year of 2021, the work of EMBL marked important contributions to fundamental research, innovation and translation, scientific services, training, and integrating life sciences in Europe. A comprehensive summary of these accomplishments has now been published in the EMBL Annual Report 2021, EMBL’s yearly review, which is available as digital, sustainably-centric format for the first time. Some of our science education activities received special attention in two feature articles, highlighting the virtual teacher training programme as well as our unique collaboration with EMBL scientists to create a low-cost, research-grade fluorescence microscopy kit for schools, the Microscope in Action resource.
