A vibrant collection of protein-inspired artworks created by teenagers from across Europe is now on display at The World of Molecular Biology exhibition in EMBL Heidelberg.
The special collection will be showcased until the end of summer 2025. It includes images on the giant LED wall together and a selection of sculptures and 3D art.
The artworks were created as part of Unfold Your World: Nature’s Molecular Wonders, a project involving more than 150 young people aged 14-19 from nine European countries.
A display case at the exhibition entrance tells the story of this innovative project, including photos and press cuttings from the Unfold Your World Vernissage party in December 2024, which was attended by almost 200 people.
The artworks on display deal with themes including grief, happiness, disease – and even cat allergies.
Unfold Your World was developed by the EMBL Science Education and Public Engagement team, in collaboration with the PDBe team at EMBL-EBI, as part of EMBL’s 50th anniversary celebrations in 2024.
The World of Molecular Biology is open to the public on a weekly basis, and welcomes school visits as well as hosting community and member state groups.
