Apply now for the ELLS LearningLAB in Heidelberg, Germany – 27-29 April 2016!
The European Learning Laboratory for the Life Sciences (ELLS), in collaboration with HeidelbergCement, invites European secondary school science teachers to apply for the ELLS LearningLAB “Biodiversity in focus – exploring the barcode of life”.
The 2.5-day professional training course in English, taking place at EMBL Heidelberg, will centre around the topics of biodiversity and DNA barcoding – a molecular method for species identification of living organisms. With a mix of seminars by practising scientists and biodiversity experts, hands-on activities and visits to state-of-the-art research facilities at EMBL and a restored quarry of HeidelbergCement, the course aims to offer an introduction to DNA barcoding, laboratory training in selected DNA technologies and bioinformatics analysis, and provide opportunities to explore how these can be used in the classroom to illustrate concepts in molecular biology as well as biodiversity.
Please find further information about the LearningLAB, the course programme and how to register on the dedicated course application page.
