Formerly known as European Learning Laboratory for the Life Sciences
Our inspiring educational experiences share the scientific discoveries of EMBL with young learners aged 10-19 years and teachers in Europe and beyond. We belong to EMBL’s Science Education and Public Engagement office.
We are happy to kick off our teaching programme 2023 by inviting all educators to join the online FutureLearn course ‘Genomics for educators’ that is open again. The course, organised by Wellcome Connecting Science in collaboration with EMBL and STEM Learning UK, explores approaches for teaching genomics both in formal and informal settings.
The free course runs until 12 March and is divided into weekly modules with different foci- from developing strategies for teaching genomics to discussing its ethical and societal implications. During the course, you will get to know resources developed by the Science Education and Public Engagement team at EMBL to help educators teach topics such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and bring the bioethics conversation around CRISPR/Cas9 to the classroom.
