We warmly welcome Sichen, Iskander and Jonas, our latest group members who joined in the past few months.

Sichen Su did his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Fudan University in Shanghai under the supervision of Dr. Jinbiao Ma.
He investigated various aspects of RNA metabolism including dsRNA processing by Drosophila Dicer, as well as m6A readout by the Macom complex. He joined us in September 2023 as a joint postodoc with Julia Mahamid’s group to work on structural characterisation of the spliceosomes in situ. He is currently supported by the ERC grant.

Iskander Khusainov did his PhD in Marat Yusupov’s group at the IGBMC in Strasburg investigating ribosomes by x-ray crystallography and single particle cryo-EM. He continued studying ribosomes by in situ cryo-ET during his postdoc in Martin Beck’s group at the MPI for Biophysics in Frankfurt. He joined EMBL Grenoble in November 2023 as a cryo-EM expert in charge of the EM facility.

Jonas Mehrens did his undergraduate degree at the Georg August Universität in Göttingen, focusing on biomolecular NMR and synthetic chemistry. He joined our group in October 2023 as a PhD student enrolled in EMBL International PhD Programme.
