The Group Leader will receive networking, training, and mentorship opportunities over the next four years, in addition to an award of €15,000
EMBL Heidelberg Group Leader Gautam Dey is one of 27 life scientists selected as the newest members of the EMBO Young Investigator Programme. The group leaders join an international network of nearly 800 life scientists. The programme supports young group leaders in Europe and beyond, by providing opportunities for mentorship, core facility access, training in laboratory leadership and responsible conduct of research, as well as financial support.
“EMBO welcomes the new young investigators, a group of exceptional scientists who represent innovation and excellence in their fields,” said EMBO Director Fiona Watt. “The multidisciplinary EMBO Young Investigator Network that they will join generates many opportunities for forming connections. We are delighted to support this next generation of scientific leaders and the collaborations they will form.”
Dey has been a group leader at EMBL since January 2021, and his team investigates the evolutionary origins and diversity of nuclear organisation and mitosis.
“It is a genuine privilege to join this incredible network of early career group leaders across Europe, my peers not just for the next 4 years but for the rest of my career,” said Dey. “I hope that I can also use this opportunity to further strengthen the historically close links between EMBL and our sister organisation EMBO.”
