2019 EMBL course and conference sneak preview
The ever-expanding programme promotes education, collaboration and cutting-edge research
The 2019 EMBL course and conference sneak preview is now available!
There are 11 EMBO | EMBL Symposia planned for 2019, which incorporate new meetings such as ‘Reconstructing the Human Past – Using Ancient and Modern Genomics’, ‘Probing Neural Dynamics with Behavioural Genetics’, ‘Systems Genetics: From Genotypes to Complex Traits’ and ‘The Identity and Evolution of Cell Types’.
In 2019 the renowned conference ‘Visualization of Biological Data’ (VIZBI) will return to EMBL Heidelberg, alongside established meetings such as ‘BioMalPar XV: Biology and Pathology of the Malaria Parasite’, ‘Chromatin and Epigenetics’, ‘Protein Synthesis and Translational Control’ and ‘Seeing is Believing – Imaging the Molecular Processes of Life’. Next year will also see EMBL Heidelberg welcome the Eighth Congress of the International BioIron Society, and the first EMBL conference will be held at the new Centre for Structural Systems Biology in Hamburg, on ‘Tools for Structural Biology of Membrane Proteins’.
As ever, many high-profile speakers will be attending, including seven Nobel laureates: Roderick MacKinnon (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2003) at the EMBL Industry Workshop ‘Cryo-EM in Industry and Academia’; Jack Szostak (Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2009) at ‘Synthetic Morphogenesis: From Gene Circuits to Tissue Architecture’; Susumu Tonegawa (Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1987) at ‘Probing Neural Dynamics with Behavioural Genetics’; Eric Wieschaus (Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1995) at ‘Mechanical Forces in Development’; and Eric Betzig (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2014), Stefan Hell (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2014), and Jacques Dubochet (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2017) at ‘Seeing is Believing’.
In addition to the conference and symposium programme, more than 50 training courses are already planned for 2019, with more to come.
With EMBL’s dedicated approach to advancing the frontiers of research in the life sciences, and with its top-class logistics and organisation, the EMBL events programme remains a leading choice for training in the molecular life sciences.
The full and final 2019 EMBL Course and Conference Programme will be published in October.
