The World of Molecular Biology is open
EMBL’s new permanent exhibition ‘The World of Molecular Biology’ celebrates molecular biology, with a focus on the science, people, and technologies of EMBL. Come and be curious with us!
The exhibition takes the visitor on a journey of scales, from genomes to ecosystems, and introduces the imaging technologies that shed light (and electrons) on the processes that keep our bodies running. More than 45 exhibits invite visitors aged 14 and above to engage with science and understand its relevance for individuals and society at large – for example, through fundamental insights into the development and prevention of cancer.
From May 2023, one day a week is dedicated to visits by members of the public and school groups that wish to discover the exhibition through guided tours. All visits must be pre-booked via the World of Molecular Biology webpage. Workshops for school groups will be available from this summer.
“We have worked on the concept and build of this exhibition for years,” said Verena Viarisio, Exhibition Manager. “In the last months, we developed, tested and tweaked the tours, and we are now very excited to see the exhibition meet its purpose: inspiring visitors with our curiosity about the inner workings of life!”
The interactive bilingual exhibition covers two floors of the EMBL Imaging Centre in Heidelberg. EMBL is grateful for financial support for ‘The World of Molecular Biology’ from:
